Rain

Description: Recording of Ton Bruynel's Rain for two live pianos (four pianists) and two soundtracks (through loudspeakers). The sonority of a rainshower was a model for this piece. The sounds of rain were recorded on tapes and electronically remade for vibrating strings. The noises of the rain were also used to trigger voltage-controlled apparatus. The product becomes the sound of an indoor rainshower.

Description: Recording of Reed Holmes's Song and Fantasy. Song and Fantasy was realized in a Fairlight Computer Musical Instrument (CMI). Almost all of the tape, originated as live trombone sounds. To accomplish this, the composer wrote several lines and fragments for trombone. Tracy Collins, the trombonist, played the music as the composer recorded it on a reel-to-reel tape deck. Sotto pressione

Description: Recording of Wolfgang Motz's Sotto pressione. It is for two oboes and computer sounds. There is the use of multiphonics and unusual tone colors, which requires different fingerings to produce the same pitches. Combining oboe and FM synthesis with the sue of a common pitch system allowed for the generation of three different oboes timbres. AM synthesis is also utilized towards the end of the piece for the notes A, B flat, and b; which are sustained.

Voicings

Description: Recording of Eugenio Giordani's Voicings for two tracks tape. Electronically produced sound material based on a mixture of nine oscillators tuned up the the unison (with small detuning) with triangular, square and ramp waveform. Voicings has got an honour mention at the 11° International Electroacoustic Music Competition of Bourges and it has been performed in a lot of occasions at RAI and in many tape concerts.
