Adventus

Recording of Milan Slavicky's Adventus. The main source of inspiration for this composition was a Czech liturgical tune from Renaissance times which used to be sung during Advent. Its unusual melodic form and great poetic quality inspired a bow-formed composition which uses mostly different vocal phrases of this song, an imitation of an organ sound and finally a tower bell transposed into lower and lower register.

After the summer rain

Recording of Hideko Kawamoto's After the summer rain. This is a composition for amplified piano and two-channel tape. This work is dedicated to the memory of Clarence Asher Peevey and written for his mother Cecilia Peevey. It was inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke's poems, (Nos Pleurs) and Before the Summer Rain. The work as a whole is meant to capture the image of a summer forest and uses a note motif that closely spells out the name "Clarence".

The afterbirth of apollo

Recording of Eric Lyon's The afterbirth of appollo. This work is for electronics and has a lot of noise elements. The synthetic sounds are harsh and posses an analog sound. This sound feels continuous and even though there is movement in the sound, the construction continues to stay the same. There is a true representation of electronic sound in this work, instead of shying away from the noise, this work embraces it and explores the importance of balance and musical transitions.
