Voting Operating System (VOS)

Description: The electronic voting machine (EVM) plays a very important role in a country where government officials are elected into office. Throughout the world, a specific operating system that tends to the specific requirement of the EVM does not exist. Existing EVM technology depends upon the various operating systems currently available, thus ignoring the basic needs of the system. There is a compromise over the basic requirements in order to develop the systems on the basis on an already available op… more

Warp-Faced Weaving on an Architectural Scale

Description: The impetus for this project emerged in an effort to move beyond small scaled weavings executed in neutral hues to larger pieces with more color. All of my previous work had been technically oriented, lacking in direction, and limited to neutral hues which blended well together and were readily available. I determined that the project would involve answering two basic questions: (1) could i successfully push these panels to large scale, and (2) could several of these large panels be manipulated… more

Wave

Description: From this investigation, I hoped to answer the following questions. 1) Was there a relationship between the apparent disorder evident at a boundary area and the wave form? 2. Was the wave configuration an archetypal motif? 3. If there was an archetypal wave form, did its presence transcend the use of a scientific medium?

Web Services for Libraries

Description: Library information systems use different software applications and automated systems to gain access to distributed information. Rapid application development, changes made to existing software applications and development of new software on different platforms can make it difficult for library information systems to interoperate. Web services are used to offer better information access and retrieval solutions and hence make it more cost effective for libraries. This research focuses on how web… more

A Wet Etch Release Method for Silicon Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) Using Polystyrene Microspheres for Improved Yield

Description: One of the final steps in fabricating microelectromechanical devices often involves a liquid etch release process. Capillary forces during the liquid evaporation stage after the wet etch process can pull two surfaces together resulting in adhesion of suspended microstructures to the supporting substrate. This release related adhesion can greatly reduce yields. In this report, a wet etch release method that uses polystyrene microspheres in the final rinse liquid is investigated. The polystyrene … more

Woven Music

Description: When I am weaving I listen to music and notice that my hands and feet fall into a rhythm. This connection reminds me of playing the piano. I took a closer look at weaving drafts; the movement of the threading setup reminded me of the notes on musical scores. This relationship inspired me to see what textures I could achieve by actually weaving the musical notes. The focus of my study is the exploration of the relationships between weaving and music utilizing elements and principles found in bot… more
