'Poet of the cello'
is visiting professor
Internationally acclaimed "poet of
the cello," Adolfo Odnoposoff, has
joined the North Texas State
University School of Music as visiting
professor for the 1975-76 academic
year.
The Argentina native continually
alternates his work between teaching
and performing and recently has
completed an extensive tour of the
Soviet Union. He also is professor of
cello and chamber music at the
Conservatory of Music in Puerto
Rico, whose president and founder
was the renowned cellist Pablo
Casals.
Noted for his outstanding musical
technique, Odnoposoff said he
considers himself honored to be able
to introduce the music of many
talented Latin American composers
who have written for cello and piano.
Odnoposoff has performed
throughout Latin America, Europe
and the United States. He has played
the cello with composer Aram
Khachaturian, and has soloed with
symphony orchestras under the
direction of Erich Kleiber, Fritz
Busch, Rafael Kubelik, Juan Jose
Castro and Luis Herrera de la Fuerto.
The cellist will be giving recitals at
NTSU, on Nov. 18 and 20 and
participating in a faculty chamber
recital on Oct. 22.
Odnoposoff began playing the cello
at the age of five and studied with
Emmanual Feuermann and Paul
Grumer in Berlin and with Diran
Alexanian in Paris.T 4SLl~~
