2001 Columbia River Recreation Survey -- Implications for Hanford Site Integrated Assessment

Description: This report presents the results from the Columbia River Recreation Survey conducted in the summer of 2001. The survey combined on-site personal interviews with parties engaged in river recreation with on-site field observations to develop a picture of summer river recreation on the Columbia. Are recoil polarization measurements of G{sup P}{ovr sub E}/G{sup P}{ovr sub M} consistent with Rosenbluth separation data?

Description: Recent recoil polarization measurements in Hall A at Jefferson Lab show that the ratio of the electric to magnetic form factors for the proton decreases significantly with increasing Q{sup 2}. This contradicts previous Rosenbluth measurements which indicate approximate scaling of the form factors ({micro}{sub p} G{sub E}{sup p}(Q{sup 2})/G{sub M}{sup p} (Q{sup 2}) {approx} 1). ASPECTS OF COULOMB DISSOCIATION AND INTERFERENCE IN PERIPHERAL NUCLEUS - NUCLEUS COLLISIONS.

Description: Coherent vector meson production in peripheral nucleus-nucleus collisions is discussed. These interactions may occur for impact parameters much larger than the sum of the nuclear radii. Since the vector meson production is always localized to one of the nuclei, the system acts as a two-source interferometer in the transverse plane. Assessing non-uniqueness: An algebraic approach

Description: Geophysical inverse problems are endowed with a rich mathematical structure. When discretized, most differential and integral equations of interest are algebraic (polynomial) in form. Techniques from algebraic geometry and computational algebra provide a means to address questions of existence and uniqueness for both linear and non-linear inverse problem. In a sense, the methods extend ideas which have proven fruitful in treating linear inverse problems.

Assessment of transuranics stabilization in PWRs

Description: The stabilization of transuranics (TRU) in a PWR fuel cycle was evaluated for the CORAIL assembly. Azimuthal anisotropy of charged and identified high pT hadrons in Au+Au collisions at RHIC

Description: We report new results on v{sub 2}(p{sub T}) for Au+Au collisions at {radical}(S{sub NN}) = 200 GeV for charged hadrons, pions, kaons,(anti)protons, K{sub s}{sup 0}, and Lambda. The analysis is extended to p{sub T} = 12 GeV/c for charged hadrons and p{sub T} = 4 GeV/c for identified particles. A comparison of the azimuthal anisotropy of charged hadrons measured at sqrt {radical}(s{sub NN}) = 130 and 200 GeV is presented. The p{sub T}-dependence of baryon versus meson elliptic flow is discussed.

Collider Tests of the Little Higgs Model

Description: The little Higgs model provides an alternative to traditional candidates for new physics at the TeV scale. The new heavy gauge bosons predicted by this model should be observable at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Cyr61 promotes breast tumorigenesis and cancer progression

Description: Cyr61, a member of the CCN family of genes, is an angiogenic factor. We have shown that it is overexpressed in invasive and metastatic human breast cancer cells and tissues. Here, we investigated whether Cyr61 is necessary and/or sufficient to bypass the ''normal'' estrogen (E2) requirements for breast cancer cell growth. Effects of dry fractures on matrix diffusion in unsaturated fractured rocks

Description: Matrix diffusion has been recognized as an important mechanism affecting solute transport through unsaturated fractured rock, where a significant fraction of the fracture network remains relatively dry and inactive in conducting liquid flow. Electroproduction of strangeness on light nuclei.

Description: The A(e,e{prime} K{sup +})YX reaction has been investigated in Hall C at Jefferson Laboratory for 6 different targets. Data were taken for Q{sup 2} {approx} 0.35 and 0.5 GeV{sup 2} at a beam energy of 3.245 GeV for {sup 1}H, {sup 2}H, {sup 3}He, {sup 4}He, C and Al targets.
