Description: This study measured the effect of mode of discourse and developmental factors on composition length, syntactic complexity, and sentence-production error rate in the writing of secondary school students. A Qualitative Analysis of Intermediate Grade Teachers' Instructional Decision-Making in Reading

Description: This study described the rationales used by individual teachers in the selection of activities for reading instruction. The relationship between the teachers' conceptions of reading and factors in their present teaching environment were analyzed as influences in their rationales given. Patterns in teachers' thinking about activities representing two theoretical positions in reading were identified.

An Ethnographic Investigation of the Influence of the Home Environment on the Developing Reading Skills of First Grade Children
