Air to Air

Description: Recording of Roderik de Man's Air to Air. This work was composed at the request of the European Wind Ensemble and was dedicated to them. It premiered in Ysbreker, Amsterdam. Almost all the sounds on the tape were derived from flute, trumpet, and clarinet sounds. The work was meant to be a dialogue between the tape recording and the live performers.

Aire

Description: Recording of Germán Toro Perez's Aire. This recording consists of two movements for tape: I. Aliento and II. Humedad. The composer used material from the piece "Stichwörter" by Georg Riedl, which consists of live bass clarinet and electronics. The main interest was to explore the transitions between noisy and harmonic sound.

Description: Recording of Atsushi Yamaji's Ajikan. This piece is music for a funeral. Its ceremonial landscape is on a method for deep meditation in native religion and for harmonizing with universal nature. Description: Recording of João Pedro Oliveira's Alap-jor-jhala-gat. This piece is part 2 of the larger work: The Journey of Sounds, and is based on the traditions of India. This recording is separated into two versions, one with violin and viola and one without. It was commissioned for the festivities of the 500th anniversary of the Portuguese discoveries.

Description: Recording of Andrea Libretti's Alfa Salpinga. For trumpet and tape. The base material of this piece is the analysis and comparison between the trumpet and vocal spectrums and the creation of new timbre based on the better fusion (or contrast) of these two sounds. It's a journey through the possible mutations of a basical trumpet timbre (Salpinga in Greek) through a vocal timbre.
