Utility of space

Description: Recording of Natasha Barrett's Utility of space. This work is an exploration of spatial musical structure and uses recited text from the "Tao Te Ching" as its driving force. This piece was commissioned by NICEM with support from Norsk Komponistfond. The composer has created two versions of this work, one for stereo and one for Ambisonics.

Vanishing Points

Description: Recording of Roderik de Man's Vanishing Points. This is a work for organ and quadrophonic tape and was commissioned by the Fund for the Creation of Music. This composition was created at the request of Willem Tanke, an organist, as well as dedicated to him. The goal of this work was to create unity between the live performance and the tape. The recording of this work is of the first performance in the Laurens Church in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Description: Recording of Frances White's A veil barely seen (for viola and tape). This piece was commissioned by, and is dedicated to, violist Liuh-Wen Ting. It was premiered in New York in April of 2001, at Merkin Hall. This piece was commissioned to be one of five pieces that would represent one of the five Chinese elements; this piece represents water. Description: Recording of René Uijlenhoet's Vorst aan de Grond. This is a work for two carillons, ringing bells, and two audio tracks. It was commissioned by the Utrechtse Klokkenspel Vereniging and dedicated to carilloneurs Arie Abbenes and Geert d'Hollander. Description: Recording of Paul Geladi's You though 3.1415926 A. The main material used in this work are sounds of Chinese instruments and was made in the Li Yuan theatre in Beijing.
