Birds

Description: Recording of Luigi Ceccarelli's Birds. For bass clarinet and tape with bass clarinet and bird sounds. As the basis for this piece the composer used tremolos and repeated sounds, played by a bass clarinet with recorded birdsong. All of the sounds were elaborated digitally and edited, without fundamentally changing their natural qualities. "Birds" consists of four sections; the four parts are separated by short solos of elaborated bird song.

Brandung II

Description: Recording of Katharina Klement's Brandung II. 2-channel electroacoustic composition. The base for both pieces is a sonett by F.G. Lorca. Brandung I relates to the first stanza, Brandung II to the second. The connection of music and poetry is associated and not taken in a programmatic way.

Description: Recording of Fernando D. Polonuer's Del ser o la nada y esa deseperada búsqueda. For electronics. Written to sonically represent a balance between sonorities with analogic reminiscences and digital sounds as a way to bring up passed times into a changing and fragmentary present. The equipment used are a Kawai K5 synthesizer, Peavey Unity 1000 console, dat Sony tcd-d7, Korg M1 workstation, Cakewalk sequencer, Boss ME10 multieffect, and a PC 286 computer.

Dense

Description: Recording of David Prior's Dense. The piece moves from the relative tranquility of isolated musical cells, places on the bed of silence, to the central state of aural density where every element struggles to make itself heart above the jungle of sounds. Eventually a state of equilibrium returns, no more or less desirable than the cacophony which preceded it, but providing an aesthetic balance in a soundscape consisting of inter dependent opposites.

Dressing old words new

Description: Recording of Christian Banasik's Dressing old words new. For baritone saxophone and tape (version II for bass-clarinet and tape). The structure of the piece is based upon formal characteristics and idiomatic expressions of the 76. Sonnet by William Shakespeare which was analyzed by pitch to midi converter and computer programs. Ektenes III

Description: Recording of Alcides Lanza's Ektenes III. For clarinet, tape, and digital signal processing. The tape part was realized by recording clarinet tones, multiphonics and short improvised sequences in digital format and then processed utilizing an Akai S1000 digital sampler and the software programs Sound Designer II and Audiomedia II in a Macintosh computer system. all pre-recorded clarinet sounds were performed by Jean-Guy Boisvert.
