The basic idea for Luminescence is revealed by the opening sound, an F above middle C, which is modified by a filter that moves from a point above the second harmonic to about the sixth harmonic and back with a speed that starts slowly (at zero), increases up to a moderate rate of speed, and then decreases to the original point.
