105-K Basin material design basis feed description for spent nuclear fuel project facilities. Volume 2: Sludge

Description: Volume 2 provides the design feed compositions for the baseline K East and K West Basin sludge process streams expected to be generated during Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF) Project activities. Four types of feeds are required to support evaluation of specific facility and process considerations during the development of new facilities and processes. These four design feeds provide nominal and bounding conditions for design evaluations. Volume 2 includes definition of inventories for: (1) KE and KW B… more

118-B-1 excavation treatability test procedures

Description: This treatability study has two purposes: to support development of the approach to be used for burial ground remediation, and to provide specific engineering information for the design of burial grounds receiving waste generated from the 100 Area removal actions. Data generated from this test will also provide performance and cost information necessary for detailed analysis of alternatives for burial ground remediation. Further details on the test requirements, milestones and data quality obje… more

150-kV, 80-A solid state power supply for neutral beam injection

Description: A 150-kV, 80-A power supply and neutral beam test facility is now operational at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, Berkeley, California. This supply uses banks of 450-V electrolytic capacitors for over 10/sup 6/ joules of energy storage. SCR switches control the power flow to the neutral beam accelerator. Turn on and off times of a few microseconds are possible. An auxiliary capacitor bank also uses SCR switches to provide regulation (''flat-topping'') of the main bank output by switching in ad… more

150 kWe solar-powered deep-well irrigation facility. Phase I. Preliminary design study. Final report

Description: Results of a preliminary design study for a solar-powered irrigation facility to be located on a farm between Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona, are presented. The ERDA-specified generic design criteria are detailed. A detailed systems analysis is presented, and preliminary designs of the thermal storage system, organic Rankine cycle power system, cooling water system, power distribution system, and collector foundation are given. Site layout and improvements are described, and a cost analysis of pro… more

200 amp Neutral Beam Source

Description: Recent efforts in controlled fusion experiments have indicated the need for large neutral-beam sources to provide an initial plasma for further plasma buildup, for use as a stoking source to makeup losses, or for plasma heating. Experiments now operating or envisioned for the near future anticipate the need for kilo-amp neutral beams in the 20-keV energy range and higher. These sources will be required to focus into relatively small-volume targets, have good gas efficiency, and use a minimum of… more

200 Sand Steamflood Demonstration Project. Sixth annual report, June 1981-June 1982

Description: This demonstration project was initiated in the 200 Sand Pool in the Midway-Sunset Field, California Sand Pool to demonstrate the operational, recovery, and economic aspects of steamflooding a typical heavy oil reservoir which had unfavorable response to cyclic stimulation. The scope of the project involves 5 phases: (1) pilot site monitoring and evaluation; (2) pilot area expansion; (3) site selection for expansion to full-scale project; (4) expansion to full-scale steamflood; and (5) producti… more
