ADA Tasking Facilities for Concurrent and Real-Time Programming

Description: This paper describes multitasking facilities of Ada in concurrent and real-time programming. Synchronization and process communication mechanisms are discussed in detail, also, a new mechanism to solve the scheduling problem is developed. In the concurrent programming aspect, a comparison is made between Ada's rendezvous and Pascal's Monitor concept. Design and Implementation of a Text Editor Under Music Interactive Operating System

Description: An interactive text editor is a computer program that allows a user to create and revise a target document such as program statements, manuscript text, and numeric data through an online terminal and the computer. It allows text to be modified and corrected many orders of magnitude faster and more easily than would manual correction. The most important characteristic of the text editor is its convenience for the user. Such convenience requires a simple, mnemonic command language which is easy t… more

The Development and Articulation of Cross-Cultural Imagery

Description: The purpose of this project was to develop a body of work in which the content has probable, if not definite, cross-cultural application. It was my intent to analyze images for their content and underlying themes. This collection of "image content" was to be used in the production of a body of work which hopefully would transcend cultural bias or limitations. I consulted art and anthropological texts, books, and periodicals (listed in bibliography) which contained images produced by different c… more

Development of a Text Formatted Under VAX/VMS Operating System

Description: No matter how extended the use of the computer is, the printed document is still the primary medium for the presentation information, and will continue to be for some time. The use of computing facilities for preparation and production of the document is becoming as prevalent as their use for numeric computation. Commercially, document preparation systems are now a standard facility at research institution, and they have become quite common on each computer program. A conventional document prep… more

Hakeme, A Personal and Cross-Cultural Approach

Description: The intent of this project was to utilize hakeme in a personal and cross-cultural manner. This was a reinterpretation of a traditional Oriental technique. Reflecting my own background and interest in earthenware pottery, hakeme was adapted for use on low fire red clay. This reorientation of the hakeme technique to low fire ceramics indicated the strong western influence that i wished to integrate into this body of work. Hakeme was utilized in a self-conscious manner and became a less restrained… more

A Reconstruction and a Deconstruction of the Visual Equivalents of a Personal (Myth) Language

How will the work be affected by: a. source of imagery? b. scale of images and overall works? c. materials? d. intent? Will the intent of my current work change because of a more linear narrative format? 3. A Study of the Decision-Making Process During the Creative Act

Description: The purpose of this thesis project was to explore my decision-making process as it took place during the act of painting. I was interested in how my paintings evolved, either naturally or through a critical stage. Resolving a work which was in a crisis between success and failure was an important part of the creative process and required definite purposive action on my part. In this connection, I explored the nature of the decisions which either redirected my work toward a successful conclusion… more
