About the Language

Rabha (ISO 639-3 rah) is a Trans-Himalayan language in the Bodo-Garo subgroup. There are approximately 140,000 speakers in Assam, Meghalaya, and West Bengal, according to the 2011 Indian census.

About the Collection

This is a community collection of audio and video recordings collected by Prafulla Basumatary and Subash Rabha in collaboration with the Bebak Rabha Kraurang Runchum (All Rabha Sahitya Sabha). The collection includes traditional narratives, children’s rhymes, and musical performances by Rabha elders, as well as descriptions of traditions and rituals associated with the Baikho festival.
