David Felt & Co. was begun by David Felt (1793-1873) as "Stationers' Hall" in Boston in 1815. About 1825 the company moved to New York, and in about 1834 David's brother Willard Felt joined the firm (thereafter called David Felt & Co.). A printing plant was opened in Brooklyn, and a branch in New Orleans. The firm sold blank books, almanacs, stationery, visiting cards, etc.
