Abstract: A novel application of a cold-stage coupled to a laser ablation-ICP-MS system is disclosed herein. The novel system of the present invention offers significant advantages over other systems employed for cooling samples prior to LA-ICP-MS analysis. The system discloses herein has multiple applications, including detection of one or more metal contaminants in an oil sample.
