Acknowledgments
The staff at GDCC gave generously of their time and expertise to
advance this project. Nickie Murchison, the Executive Director, during the
study, was always full of enthusiasm, information and ideas. This was critical
since many of the old records no longer existed and information had to be
obtained from individuals.
The author interviewed several current and former members and officers
of GDCC. All were helpful and cordial, not to mention eager, to see this project
in print. All were exceptionally proud of GDCC, John McKissick, Dick
Rubottom, Logan Mayo, and Greg MacAleese each contributed to this book.
Ebby Halliday and Maurice Acer's Executive Assistant Betty Turner made
enormous contributions, I do not believe either has ever forgotten anything or
anyone. They also maintain much of the historical records that pertain to the
GDCC.
Hugh Aynesworth, currently of the Washington Times, gave the author
many hours of his time. He has the most intricate knowledge of the McKee era
and especially of the period ending this colorful leader's career.
Finally, the staff at the Dallas Public Library History and Archives
Division, provided their usual pleasant and thorough response to the author's
questions. Their collection provides the core of this research.ii
