The tree sits in an expanse of orange grass that leads up to the edge of the courthouse, it entrance facing the left side of the photo. The entrance to the building consists of a tall gray set of doors above which are the faded words "Chidlress county courthouse 1891-1969". Tall narrow windows span the sides of the building with two rows extending from either side of the building's entrance while another two rows sit above the height of the doors. The center of the courthouse's front side sits higher than the rest of the building by a few feet, while a larger rectangular section rises from behind the edge of the main building's flat roof edge.
