Summary: Interview with John D. Wendell, an attorney and county judge, who shares his observations on the development of the Coastal Bend area of South Texas from 1950 to 1970. He also discusses the operations of a county government, the construction of a new courthouse for Aransas County, the economy of Aransas County, boundary disputes between Aransas and Nueces Counties, the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, and the Aransas County Navigation District. Wendell talks about the controversy over school and county tax revaluation in the early 1950s, his views on conservation, the Conservation Reclamation District, private subdividing of property, and the Aransas County Airport.
