From a questionnaire given to seventy-five women teachers last term on
their habits of reading some interesting and unusual data wore found. Twenty
of those teachers were from rural schools, thirty-seven from small town and
eighteen from city. There wore twenty-three elementary education majors rop-
resented, twelve English, nine history, throes business education, four home
economic, four physical education, throe art, throe Spanish, two library
service, two music, one economics, one math, and on, social science.
Newspapers ranked highest, magazines notb, and books last in being road
most. Only one did not road books and magazines--all road nowspapers.
Sports are thwbs down faith them. They enjoy most the front page of the
newspaper and the editorial section. The society page was ranked third, then
followed the comic, the continued story section, the .dvrtisImcnts and sports.

Morning News is the favorite of fifty. Noxt in populai7t th Frt Wrth

The reasons for reading were ranked respectively; for general knowledge,
professional purposes, personality development, influence of friends reading
and escape from reality. One indicated that she did not road for entertain..

wore not influenced by their friends, seventeen did not read for pcrsona1ity
