THE MINEOLA REPRESENTATIVE'S BILL WAS APPROVED MONDAY BY THE HOUSE PUBLIC EDUCATION COMMITTEE, WHICH HE CHAIRS. IT GOES TO THE FLOOR FOR DEBATE NEXT. PRESENT LAW SPLITS THE ATTENDANCE OF AN AREA VOCATIONAL SCHOOL PUPIL BETWEEN HIS HOME DISTRICT AND THE VOCATIONAL DISTRICT. AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE IS A BIG FACTOR IN DISTRIBUTING STATE SCHOOL AID AND TEACHERS. THE BILL WOULD ALLOW HOME DISTRICTS TO COUNT PUPILS WHO ATTEND VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS PART-TIME AS IN FULL DAILY ATTENDANCE. AND THE VOCATIONAL DISTRICT WOULD COUNT THE PUPIL FOR TEACHER ALLOTMENT PURPOSES."
