Description: Testing plans for a full-scale test receiver panel and supporting hardware which essentially duplicate both physically and functionally, the design planned for the Barstow Solar Pilot Plant are presented. Design and testing of wood containers for radioactive waste

Description: A wood container for shipping and storing radioactive waste was designed to eliminate the problems caused by the weight, cost, and shape of the steel containers previously used. Tests specified by federal regulations (compression, free-drop, penetration, and vibration) were conducted on two of the containers, one loaded to 2500 lb and one loaded to 5000 lb. Immobilization of Savannah River high-level wastes in SYNROC: results from performance tests

Description: Large samples (up to 15cm diameter) of SYNROC D containing simulated Savannah River (SRL) waste sludge have been prepared and performance tested. Waste loadings of 60 to 65 wt% for the SRL composite sludge have been achieved; this corresponds to a waste concentration (volumetric) loading of approximately 2.3 to 2.5 g/cm/sup 3/. Lawrence Livermore Laboratory's Beryllium Control Program for High-Explosive Test Firing Bunkers and Tables

In-reactor corrosion of X-8001 and 1245 aluminum: Analysis of data from PT IP-42A

Description: Failures of standard fuel element jackets (1245 aluminum alloy) after relatively short Hanford reactor exposures are occurring at high reactor power levels. Metallographic examination of fuel element jackets from short exposure ruptures shows the cause of failure to be rapid intergranular corrosion.
