Examination of T-111 clad uranium nitride fuel pins irradiated up to 13,000 hours at a clad temperature of 990/sup 0/C

Description: The examination of 27 fuel pins irradiated in the Plum Brook reactor facility is described. Curtailment of NASA sponsored nuclear programs prevented a complete examination of all pins. Nevertheless, results include fuel pin integrity, clad ductility, clad strain, fission gas release, fuel burnup, fuel swelling, neutron fluence, metallography, and instrumentation reliability. Very small uptakes were noted for the silica supported iron catalysts. Anodic Behavior of SAM2X5 Material Applied as Amorphous Coatings

Description: Iron-based amorphous alloys are desirable industrial materials since they are highly resistant to corrosion and possess enhanced hardness for wear resistance. The amorphous materials can be produced from the melt as powder and later spray deposited as coatings on large engineering structures. Preliminary report confined tension testing of 900-24

Description: A specially designed confining pressure vessel is described that allows tensile samples to be tested under a superimposed confining hydrostatic pressure. Tests on samples of well characterized materials such as aluminum were used to verify the operation of the system, calibration of the internal load cell, and data reduction methods.
