Understanding Connections: Examining Digital Library and Institutional Repository Use Overlap

Description: This paper examined how users navigated between other collections within the UNT IR, as well as within the UNT DL. Through this examination, we observed patterns between how users navigated between objects, understood which collections may have related to one another, examined why some unique items were used more than others, and viewed the average number of items used within a session

Embryonic developmental oxygen preconditions cardiovascular functional response to acute hypoxic exposure and maximal β-adrenergic stimulation of anesthetized juvenile American alligators (Alligator mississippiensis)

Description: Article investigating the effect of embryonic hypoxia on the cardiovascular phenotype of 4-year-old American alligators (Alligator mississippiensis). The findings indicate that embryonic hypoxia in crocodilians alters the cardiovascular phenotype, changing the juvenile response to acute hypoxia and β-adrenergic stimulation.

Giant spin Hall effect in two-dimensional monochalcogenides

Description: This article, using calculations from first principles, reveals for the first time giant intrinsic spin Hall conductivities (SHC) in these materials. In particular, the article shows that the SHC resonances can be easily tuned by combination of strain and doping and, in some cases, strain can be used to induce semiconductor to metal transition that makes a giant spin Hall effect possible even in absence of doping.

Finding New Cell Wall Regulatory Genes in Populus trichocarpa Using Multiple Lines of Evidence

Description: Article describes study which searched for genes with putatively unknown roles in regulating cell wall biosynthesis using an extended network-based Lines of Evidence (LOE) pipeline to combine multiple omics data sets in P. trichocarpa, including gene coexpression, gene comethylation, population level pairwise SNP correlations, and two distinct SNP-metabolite Genome Wide Association Study (GWAS) layers.

Corrigendum: The Differences Between Malate Dehydrogenase Malic Enzymes and Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Phosphate Malic Enzymes Subtypes of C₄ Photosynthesis: More Than Decarboxylating Enzymes

Description: This is a correction of a previously released article. A mistake was found in Figure 2 of the published work. The names of the cell types, “mesophyll cell” and “bundle sheath” were erroneously interchanged.

Continued Usage and Location Disclosure of Location-Based Applications: A Necessity for Location Intelligence

Description: This article's research builds a continuance usage and location disclosure model from the expectation-confirmation perspective. The effect of benefit expectations on usefulness and satisfaction is hypothesized. In addition, the positive effect of usefulness on satisfaction and continuance intention is postulated. Findings contribute to the current literature in business intelligence by focusing on location disclosure behavior in the context of LBAs and the necessity of this type of information… more

AI Agency Risks and Their Mitigation Through Business Process Management: A Conceptual Framework

Description: This article builds on agency theory and identify factors that increase the risk of an agency problem between a principal (a human or an organization) and an AI agent and propose a framework for AI agency problem analysis. The framework is illustrated through AI use cases and industry examples. Implications for AI governance research and practice are discussed. It was presented at the 52nd Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences.

Solvation Descriptors for Zwitterionic α-Aminoacids; Estimation of Water–Solvent Partition Coefficients, Solubilities, and Hydrogen-Bond Acidity and Hydrogen-Bond Basicity

Description: This article uses the literature data on solubilities and water–solvent partition coefficients to obtain properties or “Absolv descriptors” for zwitterionic α-aminoacids: glycine, α-alanine (α-aminopropanoic acid), α-aminobutanoic acid, norvaline (α-aminopentanoic acid), norleucine (α-aminohexanoic acid), valine (α-amino-3-methylbutanoic acid), leucine (α-amino-4-methylpentanoic acid), and α-phenylalanine.

Algorithmically Optimized Hemispherical Dome as a Secondary Optical Element for the Fresnel Lens Solar Concentrator

Description: This article focuses on a way to maximize the concentration acceptance product (CAP), while using the minimum SOE and receiver geometry at a given f-number and incidence angle (also referred to as the tracking error angle). The laws of polychromatic light refraction along with trigonometry and spherical geometry were utilized to optimize the POE grooves, SOE radius, receiver size, and SOE–receiver spacing.

Influence of coherent population trapping on Raman scattering

Description: Article considering the Raman scattering in molecular media. Applying two laser fields in a two-photon resonance with vibrational transition, the authors study the role of rotational levels for excitation of vibrational coherence. It is shown that the molecular vibrational coherence strongly depends on the effect of coherent population trapping for rotational levels. The obtained results are important for applications of Raman spectroscopy to molecular detection in engineering, chemical, and bi… more

AFLOW-QHA3P: Robust and automated method to compute thermodynamic properties of solids

Description: Article introducing the quasiharmonic approximation three-phonon method to calculate the thermodynamic properties of both nonmetallic and metallic compounds. This study demonstrates that QHA3P is an ideal framework for the high-throughput prediction of finite-temperature material properties, combining the accuracy of QHA with the computational efficiency of SC-QHA.
