[Letter from Charles Moore]

Description: Letter from Charles Moore relating stories he heard from a man named Nicholas while riding on the train. The man claimed to be represent a publisher out of Philadelphia. In his early years in Texas, long before the "War of Unpleasantness," he traded a law library worth of books to Governor Henderson in exchange for land. Description: This book contains a collection of letters written by Lieutenant Theodore Thadeus Sobieski (T. T. S.) Laidley between 1845 and 1848. The letters discuss life as a soldier during the Mexican War; most of the letters were written from various stations in Mexico.
