Description: The present thinking on high-energy e/sup /plus//e/sup /minus// linear colliders is reviewed, stressing those points that have consequences for detector design and physics analyses. Detector requirements are discussed. The limited streamer tubes system for the SLD warm iron calorimeter

Description: The SLD detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center is a general purpose device for studying e{sup +}{epsilon}{sup {minus}} interaction at the Z{sup 0}. Description: Separate muon, electron, and tau numbers are conserved in the minimal standard model of electroweak interactions with massless neutrinos. Proposal to assemble a high resolution-electron sensitive-energy flow calorimeter in the NEULAND spectrometer

Description: A ..gamma.. catcher and a liquid scintillation calorimeter module in a simple configuration that is well suited to the investigation of several different neutrino induced processes are described. The variety of neutrino beams now available at Fermilab and synchrotron intensity and energy together with the high resolution calorimeter allow a multiplicity of experiments to be carried out with a single detector configuration.

A many particle-tracking detector with drift planes and segmented cathode readout

Description: We describe the design and performance of a detector system for tracking charged particles in an environment of high track density and rates up to 1 MHz. Lead-Glass Wall addition to the Spear Mark I Magnetic Detector

Description: A ''Lead-Glass Wall,'' consisting of 318 lead-glass Cherenkov shower counters and three wire spark chambers, has been added to one octant of the SPEAR Mark I Magnetic Detector. The wall covers a solid angle of approximately 6 percent of 4..pi.. steradians and has been used to identify and measure the energies of electrons and photons produced in electron-positron collisions. The design, calibration, gain-monitoring, and performance of the system are described.

Small Angle Physics at CDF: A Progress Report

Description: In 1989 CDF collected data in special high beta runs with a trigger selecting elastic and inelastic events in order to measure the total cross section ({sigma}{sub tot}) and the differential elastic cross section (d{sigma}{sub el}/dt). Description: An intense analysis effort on the data we obtained in a seven month run on E704 last year has produced a flood of new results on polarization effects in particle production at 200 GeV/c. Personal extrapolation of CDF test beam use to the SSC

Description: The author's personal experience in test beam usage at CDF is used to predict SSC needs at the point of turn-on. It is concluded that the test beam demand will reflect the scale of effort involved in SSC detectors rather than the total number of them. Provision for later expansion is recommended. Open and hidden charm muoproduction. [209 GeV]

Description: New results are presented on open and hidden charm and bottom production by 209-GeV muons interacting in a magnetized steel calorimeter. The upper limit on the production of T states by muons is sigma(..mu..N ..-->.. ..mu..UPSILONX)B(UPSILON ..-->.. ..mu mu..) < 22 x 10/sup -39/ cm/sup 2/ (90% confidence level). Description: First results from the MARK III detector at SPEAR are presented based on 2.7 million J/psi decays. A first simulation study of the barrel-endcap transition region in a calorimeter of the scintillator tile design

Description: We have made a first study of the calorimetric response to 10 GeV/c charged pions in the transition region between barrel and endcap for the scintillator-tile design pursued at Argonne National Laboratory using the simulation program ANLSIM. Description: A ''Beauty Spectrometer'' has been designed for studies of B physics at the SSC. The ultimate goal is a definitive measurement of CP violation in the B system. The spectrometer consists of two stages and occupies one side of an intermediate-luminosity interaction region.
