Organic iodine removal from simulated dissolver off-gas streams using silver-exchanged mordenite

Description: The removal of methyl iodide by absorption onto silver mordenite was studied using a simulated off-gas from the fuel dissolution step of a nuclear fuel reprocessing plant. The methyl iodide absorption of silver mordenite was examined for the effects of NO/sub x/, humidity, iodine concentration, filter temperature, and filter pretreatment. The highest iodine loading achieved in these tests has been 34 mg CH/sub 3/I per g of substrate, approximately five times less than the elemental iodine loadi… more

Investigation of induced unimolecular decomposition for development of visible chemical lasers. Final report, 1 May 1976--30 April 1977

Description: This report summarizes the results of a study of azide decomposition for possible application in a visible chemical laser. Task 1 of the subject contract involved thorough review of the chemical literature pertaining to azide decomposition. Covalently bonded azides decompose directly into an electronically excited nitrene (RN) and ground-state molecular nitrogen. Ionic azides decompose to metal atoms and azide radicals. The azide radicals subsequently recombine to form electronically excited ni… more

H-Area Seepage Basins

Description: During the third quarter of 1990 the wells which make up the H-Area Seepage Basins (H-HWMF) monitoring network were sampled. Laboratory analyses were performed to measure levels of hazardous constituents, indicator parameters, tritium, nonvolatile beta, and gross alpha. A Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer (GCMS) scan was performed on all wells sampled to determine any hazardous organic constituents present in the groundwater. The primary contaminants observed at wells monitoring the H-Area Se… more

Development of passive electronic components for instrumentation of improved geothermal logging tools and components. Annual progress report

Description: Short term objectives for well-logging instrumentation are circuits which can operate at temperatures in the range 275/sup 0/C to 350/sup 0/C; the medium term goal is operation up to 500/sup 0/C, and the long term goal is to achieve operation at 1000/sup 0/C. It is apparent that useful electronic circuits will require the combination of both passive components and active devices. In order to meet the compatibility requirements, the basic technology which has been selected in this project is the… more
