Preliminary Summary of a Reconnaissance for Uranium in the Alaska Railroad-Iliamna Region During 1951

Description: From abstract: Radiometric reconnaissance in several districts of the Alaska Railroad-Iliamna region during 1951 found no radioactive material in excess of 0.002 percent equivalent uranium associated with certain lode deposits that previously were deemed favorable for the occurrence of uranium because they contain mineral assemblages similar to uranium-producing lodes elsewhere.

Preliminary Report on Diamond-Drill Exploration and Plans for Additional Drilling in Long Park and Vicinity, Montrose County, Colorado

Description: From abstract and summary: Long Park and vicinity is in T. 47 N., R. 17 W., Montrose County, Colo. The U. S. Geological Survey started a program of drilling in the area in April 1949, to find deposits that might be developed into new mines and to appraise the reserves of the area. This drilling was done during two periods of time under separate contracts.

The East Slope No. 2 Uranium Prospect, Piute County, Utah

Description: From abstract: The secondary uranium minerals autunite, metatorbernite, uranophane (?), and schroeckingerite occur in altered hornfels at the East Slope No. 2 uranium prospect. The deposit, in sec. 6, T. 27 S., R. 3 W., Piute County, Utah, is about I mile west of the Bullion Monarch mine in the central producing area of the Marysvale uranium district. Hornfels, formed by contact metamorphism of bullion Canyon volcanic rocks along the edge of a quartz monzonite stock, is in fault contact with th… more

Radioactivity at the Jim Kane Mine, Mohave County, Arizona

Description: Abstract: About 2,000 tons of low-grade lead ore has been produced from the Jim Kane mine, near Kingman, Mohave County, Ariz. A 3-foot vein of gouge and siderite stringers in pre-Cambrian gneiss contains some lead and, locally, is abnormally radioactive. A sample of the vein contained 0.067 percent uranium. Abnormal radioactivity is restricted to a small part of the vein, and no reserves are calculated.

Uranium-Bearing Deposits West of Clancey, Jefferson County, Montana

Description: From abstract: Nine uranium deposits occur in a small area west of Clancey, Jefferson County, Mont. These deposits are all in or near silicified fracture zones in quartz monzonite and related rocks of the Boulder batholith. The deposits contain pockets of uranium minerals in cavities in brecciated well-silicified rock. The primary uranium mineral pitchblende has been found in one pod. Secondary uranium minerals occur as fracture linings and in pore spaces in and adjacent to the silicified zones. more

The Stratigraphy of the Upper Part of the Bone Valley Formation and its Relation to the Leached Zone

Description: From abstract: The two topmost zones of the Bone Valley formation at the Homeland mine are a phosphate-cemented quartz sandstone and an underlying pebbly and clayey quartz and phosphate sand characterized by graded bedding. This sequence is found in every other area of the land-pebble field. Therefore, these zones are considered to be stratigraphic units and the transition between them to be a key horizon.
