Description: Report presenting an investigation of a fin-stabilized scale model of the NACA RM-10 missile at a Mach number of 1.62. Measurements were made of the lift, drag, and pitching moment of the finned body over a range of angles of attack. Comparisons with the results from other testing facilities are also provided.

Mechanical Properties of Zirconium-Tin Alloys

Description: Abstract: "The mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of induction-melted, zirconium-tin alloys have been determined. The alloys investigated contained from zero to five per cent tin and up to 0.3% carbon. The zirconium used was United States Bureau of Mines sponge zirconium. The mechanical properties investigated include the tensile, hot-hardness, and impact properties."

Uranium-Bearing Copper Deposits in the Coyote Mining District, Mora County, New Mexico

Description: Abstract: Uranium-bearing copper deposits occur in steeply dipping beds of the Sangre de Cristo formation of Permian and Pennsylvanian age south of Coyote, Mora County, New Mexico. Detailed mapping and sampling of these deposits indicate that they occur in carbonaceous zones in shales and arkosic sand-stones. Samples contain as much as 0.067 percent uranium. The hazards to humans of wildfowl on REDOX contaminated swamp

Description: Ducks, geese, coots, and other wild birds, both migratory and resident, have been swimming on the Redox waste water pond and eating the herbage and mud on the bottom. The pond is caused by the discharge of five to ten million gallons of water a day from the heating and cooling coils of reactor vessels in the Redox plant. Description: Abstract: "Experiments were performed to characterize the types of nitro compounds that might be formed by reaction of Shell Spray Base with nitric acid, to determine the extent of their formation, if any, and their path under conditions of nitric acid recovery in the Purex Process. It is concluded that the instability of Shell Spray Base to nitration, under conditions to prevail in the plant, presents neither a disposal problem nor a safety problem."
