Using Gaze Tracking as a Research Tool in the Deaf Health Literacy and Access to Health Information Project: Protocol for a Multisite Mixed Methods Study and Preliminary Results

Description: This article used gaze-tracking technology to understand the navigation and use of web-based health information by deaf adults who communicate with sign language and by hearing adults. The findings of this study show that incorporating gaze-tracking technology offers beneficial avenues for better understanding how individuals interact with health information.

Enhancement of COVID-19 Diagnosis using Machine Learning and Texture Analyses of Lung Imaging

Description: Article proposing CoviSegNet, an enhanced U-Net model to segment ground-glass opacities and consolidations in CT scans of Covid-19 positive patients. The performance of CoviSegNet was evaluated on three public CT datasets. The experimental results show that the proposed CoviSegNet is highly promising.

Measuring the impact of suspending Umrah, a global mass gathering in Saudi Arabia on the COVID‑19 pandemic

Description: This article uses a stratified SEIR epidemic model to evaluate the impact of Umrah, a global Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, on the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic during the month of Ramadan, the peak of the Umrah season. Developmental programming of DNA methylation and gene expression patterns is associated with extreme cardiovascular tolerance to anoxia in the common snapping turtle

Description: This article explores DNA methylation's role in the regulation of gene expression in reptiles. Results show that embryonic hypoxia programs DNA methylation and gene expression patterns and that these changes are associated with enhanced cardiac anoxia tolerance in snapping turtles later in life.
