Environmental status of the Hanford Reservation for December 1966. (Annual summary)

Description: Data are summarized on levels of radioactivity in environmental samples collected at Hanford during 1966, including detailed data on samples collected during December. Data are included on the radioactivity in fallout from Chinese and Russian nuclear weapons test, samples of drinking water and Columbia River water, the /sup 56/Mn content of Columbia River water sampled at various locations, the /sup 131/I content of gaseous wastes and surface waters, and the radioactivity of soil samples from t… more

Diffusion of Carbon in Tantalum Carbides

Description: The diffusivities presented in the present paper are determined using the same technique and the calculated diffusivities for both TaC and Ta2C are found to be in good agreement with Resnick et. al.

Low energy gamma-transitions in Pu{sup 238} and Pu{sup 240}

Description: We investigated electron and gamma spectra of mixtures of isotopes of curium. This was done on a beta spectrometer with double focusing at an angle of {pi}{radical}2 and on a scintillation gamma spectrometer with a 40 {times} 40 mm NAI(Tl) single crystal detector. The observed electron spectrum are interpolated and presented. Also, experimental results of the ratio of conversion at L and M subshells are presented and compared to theoretical values.

Proceedings of the First International Symposium on the Biological Interpretation of Dose from Accelerator-Produced Radiation, Held at the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory, Berkeley, California, March 13--16, 1967

Description: The objective of the meeting was to provide a companion meeting to the ''First Symposium on Accelerator Radiation Dosimetry and Experience'' which was held November 3-5, 1965, at the Brookhaven National Laboratory. This first symposium was limited in scope to an intensified discussion of dosimetry techniques. The biology which is associated with high energy radiation was specifically excluded, since it was the original plan to hold a second symposium devoted entirely to biology. Thus the presen… more

Earth Vibrations from a Nuclear Explosion in a Salt Dome

Description: The following report presents data from the SALMON experiment, an experiment made to study the mechanics of a tamped nuclear detonation in a salt dome in terms of generated shock waves as they are propagated out of the dome and progressively through the crust and mantle of the earth. This experiment was made in the Tatum salt dome, Mississippi, October 22, 1964.

Production test authorization -065 unautoclaved fuel corrosion test - D Reactor

Description: The objectives of this test are to determine if autoclave film has an important role in the groove and ledge corrosion mechanism, to evaluate the performance of unautoclaved fuel in corrosion environments of different severities, and to verify the importance of process water pH in regulating the frequency and severity of groove and ledge corrosion.
