Thermodynamical Properties of 56Fe

Description: Average nuclear level densities close to the nuclear binding energy in {sup 56}Fe and {sup 57}Fe are extracted from primary {gamma}-ray spectra. Thermal properties of {sup 56}Fe are studied within the statistical canonical ensemble. The experimental heat capacity is compared with the theoretical heat capacity calculated within the shell model Monte Carlo approach.
