Performance of an annular turbojet combustor having reduced pressure losses and using propane fuel

Description: Report presenting an investigation to develop a high-combustion-efficiency turbojet combustor with pressure losses typical of those encountered in current turbojet engines. A total of 13 air-entry hole modifications was investigated to obtain a combustor design with high combustion efficiencies and a satisfactory outlet radial temperature profile. Results regarding combustor development and the performance of Model 28I are provided.

Comparative Analysis of ANL High Purity Uranium

Description: In the course of the development at Argonne of high purity uranium metal in ingot form, some questions arose as to the validity of the chemical analyses of some of the impurities (particularly those for carbon, boron, and silicon), with one analytical laboratory reporting concentrations in some instances of an order of magnitude greater than another laboratory. Since the low concentrations of impurities in this material involved, in some cases, the development of modified analytical procedures … more

Radiation studies 234-5 Building No.7: Sensitivity of nuclear track film to Pu-F neutrons

Description: The results of theoretical calculations regarding the sensitivity of the NTA emulsion to both Po-B and Pu-F neutrons were described in an earlier report. The purpose of this report is to describe the results of an experiment which was performed to verify these values. Data relating to both the sensitivity and the amount of fading which takes place prior to developing were obtained.
