Exploring phase space concepts in the forecasting of time series with artificial neural networks

Description: The authors study the performance of feedforward artificial neural networks in forecasting future values of several different time series. They explore both short- and long-term prediction of several periodic time series. They find that a significant source of error in long-term prediction of time series is introduced by a phase shift between the network output and the time series. Demonstration of no feasibility of a Crystalline Beam in a Betatron Magnet

Description: This technical report investigates the feasibility of a Crystalline Beam in a weak-focussing storage ring like a Betatron. At the same time the curvature effect due to the bending magnet is also investigated. Description: The accuracy associated with assessing the environmental consequences of an accidental atmospheric release of radioactivity is highly dependent on our knowledge of the source release rate which is generally poorly known.
