Lower hybrid wave coupling in PBX-M

Description: The coupling of the waves launched from a 4.6 GHz lower hybrid system into PBX-M plasmas has been studied for both L-mode and H-mode plasmas. The characteristics of the plasma in front of the LH coupler have been measured with a fast Langmuir probe. The radial scale length of turbulent fluctuations in the main core of TFTR plasmas

Description: A new theory of microwave reflectometry in tokamaks has been developed which accounts for all the major characteristics of waves reflected from strong fluctuations near the cutoff layer. ARIES tokamak reactor study

Description: This report examines the feasibility of a standard poloidal diverter design for ARIES- 2/4 with the determination of the peak thermal loading on, and the plasma temperature facing a poloidal double null diverter. The ARIES-2/4 reactors produce 2,141 MW of fusion power of which 1712 MW is contained in the neutron channel. Thermally excited proton spin-flip laser emission in tokamaks

Description: Based on statistical thermodynamic fluctuation arguments, it is shown here for the first time that thermally excited spin-flip laser emission from the fusion product protons can occur in large tokamak devices that are entering the reactor regime of operation. Existing experimental data from TFTR supports this conjecture, in the sense that these measurements are in complete agreement with the predictions of the quasilinear theory of the spin-flip laser.

Kinetic theory of geomagnetic pulsations 2. Ion flux modulations by transverse waves

Description: Ion flux modulations by ultra-low-frequency radially polarized geomagnetic pulsations are examined theoretically based on the gyrokinetic analysis of Chen and Hasegawa. Understanding composite explosive energetics: 4. Reactive flow modeling of aluminum reaction kinetics in PETN and TNT using normalized product equation of state

Description: Using Fabry-Perot interferometry techniques, we have determined the early time rate of energy release from detonating PETN and TNT explosives filled with 5 to 20 wt % of either 5 {mu}m or 18 {mu}m spherical aluminum with the detonation products, and calculate the extent of reaction at 1--3 {mu}s after the detonation. Chemically modified polymeric resins for solid-phase extraction and group separation prior to analysis by liquid or gas chromatography

Description: Polystyrene divinylbenzene was modified by acetyl, sulfonic acid, and quaternary ammonium groups. A resin functionalized with an acetyl group was impregnated in a PTFE membrane and used to extract and concentrate phenolic compounds from aqueous samples.
