DEEP INELASTIC DISTRIBUTIONS IN HIGH ENERGY NEUTRINO COLLISIONS

Description: The results of the analysis of {approx} 1000 {nu} events of the type {nu} + N {yields} {mu}{sup -} + hadrons from the NAL dichromatic beam are presented. Distributions in terms of the scaling variables x = Q{sup 2}/2o{nu} and y = {sup E}n/E{sub {nu}} are presented. The x distribution is compared with F{sub 2}{sup ed} (x) from SLAC; the Q{sup 2} distribution is tested for the presence of the propagator term F{sub 2}(x) {yields} F{sub 2}(x)/(1 + Q{sup 2}/2){sup 2}; and the y distributions are fit… more

Marysville, Montana, Geothermal Project: Geological and Geophysical Exploration at Marysville Geothermal Area: 1973 Results (With a Section on ''Contemporary Seismicity in the Helena, Montana Region'')

Description: This report describes field geological and geophysical investigations of the Marysville geothermal area, including geological mapping, sample collection, a ground total field magnetic survey, gravity survey, seismic ground noise survey, microearthquake survey, and heat flow study. Although sufficient data are not available, it is likely that a magma chamber is the heat source. A second section, ''Contemporary Seismicity in the Helena, Montana, Region'' examines the coincidence of high heat flow… more

Smokeless Gasoline Fire Test

Description: As a result of the recent concern by environmentalists, the hypothetical accident thermal test can no longer be performed by simply burning gasoline in an open pit. The uncontrolled open pit technique creates thick, dense, black clouds of smoke which are not permitted by local authorities. This paper deals with the design of the fire test facility and the techniques used to eliminate the smoke plume. The techniques include the addition of excess air to the fire in combination with a spray of wa… more

Heat Transfer Correlation for Finned Casks

Description: Design of finned casks for dissipation of heat from radioactive decay usually requires reliance on generalized correlations in the literature which do not necessarily apply to the specific cask design. A correlation was developed, based on temperature profile measurements, for the design of upright cylindrical casks with vertical fins for convective and radiant heat transfer to ambient air. Temperature data at various heat loads were obtained for two different cask sizes of the same basic desig… more

Low temperature absorption spectra and energy levels of HoF$sub 3$ in the regions 21625 cm$sup -1$ to 21360 cm$sup -1$ and 26160 cm$sup -1$ to 25900 cm$sup -1$

Description: Thesis. The optical absorption spectra of Ho/sup 3+/ in the rare earth salt HoF/sub 3/ is studied. Such optical region studies (visible radiation) are easily performed with standard light sources and optical arrangements. Since the energy range of visible light coincides with the excitation energy range for a number of electronic transitions within the rare earth salts, the studies theoretically provide considerable information about rare earth electronic energy levels. Data are compiled for th… more

Delayed neutron data: review and evaluation

Description: BS>The status of delayed neutron measurements is reviewed. Emphasis is placed on the absolute yield va the energy of the neutrons cauging fission, group yields and periods, and in the delayed neutron spectra. Systematics are discussed; and an evaluated data set, based both on available measurements and on systematics arguments, is suggested for inclusion in ENDF/B-IV. Areas of delayed neutron studies which require additional measurements are outlined. (18 figures, 18 tables) (auth)
