STOPPING POWER AND ENERGY FOR ION PAIR PRODUCTION FOR 340 MEVPROTONS

Description: The relative stopping powers for 300 Mev protons of H, Li, Be, C, Al, Fe, Cu, Ag, Sn, W, Pb, and U have been measured. The results are shown in Table I. The energy spent per ion-pair production in the gases H{sub 2}, He, N{sub 2}, O{sub 2}, and A at 340 Mev proton energy has also been measured. The results are shown in Table II.

Exploration of the Big Boulder Prospect, Larimer County, Colorado

Description: From introduction: The Big Boulder prospect is in SE 1/4 sec. 36, T.7N., R.,72W., in Tarimer County, Colorado. The prospect has been opened by four irregular trenches and shallow cuts, and a 10-foot discovery shaft. Hanley 1/4 states that 10.5 tons of beryl were produced from the Big Boulder prospect in 1936, and about 600 pounds in 1941.

Description: In November, 1949, an industrial hygiene study was made of the operations conducted in the Bio-Assay Laboratory, 706 Building, 700 Area. This study was conducted by W.E. Amplifier Design for Proportional Ionization Chambers

Description: This paper presents the requirements of a nuclear amplifier of short resolving time, designed to accept pulses of widely varying amplitudes. Data are given which show that a proportional ionization chamber loaded with a 1,000-ohm resistor develops pulses of 0.5 microsecond duration and several volts amplitude. Higher Resolution Neutron Velocity Spectrometer Measurements of Enriched Uranium

Description: The slow neutron transmission of a sample of enriched uranium containing 3.193 gm/cm{sup2} has been investigated with a resolution width of 1 microsec/m (1 microsec/m is the full width of the triangular resolution function at the base) and with points spaced 1/3 microsec/m. On the Particular Integrals of the Prandtl-Busemann Iteration Equations for the Flow of a Compressible Fluid

Description: Note presenting the particular integrals of the second-order and third-order Prandtl-Busemann iteration equations for the flow of a compressible fluid that have been obtained by means of the method in which the complex conjugate variables are utilized as the independent variables of the analysis. The forms of the particular integrals, derived for subsonic flow, are readily adapted to supersonic flows with only a change in sign of one of the parameters of the problem.
