Geochemistry of sericite and chlorite in well 14-2 Roosevelt Hot Springs geothermal system and in mineralized hydrothermal systems

Description: Chemical compositions of chlorite and sericite from one production well in the Roosevelt geothermal system have been determined by electron probe methods and compared with compositions of chlorite and sericite from porphyry copper deposits. Modern system sericite and chlorite occur over a depth interval of 2 km and a temperature interval of 250/sup 0/C.

Geothermal exploration program, Hill Air Force Base, Davis and Weber Counties, Utah

Description: Results obtained from a program designed to locate a low- or moderate-temperature geothermal resource that might exist beneath Hill Air Force Base (AFB), Ogden, Utah are discussed. A phased exploration program was conducted at Hill AFB. Published geological, geochemical, and geophysical reports on the area were examined, regional exploration was conducted, and two thermal gradient holes were drilled. This program demonstrated that thermal waters are not present in the shallow subsurface at this… more

Effects of Alterations to Low Gradient Reaches of Utah Streams

Description: This report describes an investigation of the effects of stream channelization on fish and macro-invertebrates in low gradient reaches of Blacksmith Fork River and the Logan River in the floodplain of Cache Valley in northern Utah. Channelization adversely affected both fish and macro-invertebrate populations and biomass, with the severity of impact directly related to the amount and duration of disturbance of the physical habitat.

Salina 1° x 2° NTMS Area, Utah: Data Report (Abbreviated)

Description: From abstract: This abbreviated data report presents results of ground water and stream/surface sediment reconnaissance in the National Topographic Map Series (NTMS) Salina 10 x 20 quadrangle. Surface sediment samples were collected at 1418 sites, at a target sampling density of one site per 13 square kilometers (five square miles). Ground water samples were collected at 143 sites. Neutron activation analysis (NAA) results are given for uranium and 16 other elements in sediments, and for uraniu… more

Stream Sediment Detailed Geochemical Survey for Marysvale, Utah

Description: From abstract: Results of the Marysvale detailed geochemical survey are reported. Field and laboratory data are presented for 397 stream sediment samples and 160 radiometric readings. Statistical and areal distributions of uranium and possible uranium-related variables are displayed. A generalized geologic map of the area is provided, and pertinent geologic factors which may be of significance in evaluating the potential for uranium mineralization are briefly discussed.
