Pay Secrecy

Description: This issue brief discusses pay secrecy policies that nearly half of workers nationally reported that they were either contractually forbidden or strongly discouraged from discussing their pay with their colleagues. Includes a listing of state laws that protect employees in discussing pay and compensation.

Reconnaissance of Radioactive Rocks of Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Southeastern New York

Description: From abstract: In 1948, 7,662 miles of roadside rocks and soils in Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and southeastern New York were traversed with a car-mounted Geiger-Mueller counter. The observed distribution of the abnormally radioactive rocks and soils is limited to certain areas, herein called "radioactive provinces," that are separated from each other by areas of essentially nonradioactive rock.

National Uranium Resource Evaluation: Glens Falls Quadrangle, New York, Vermont and New Hampshire

Description: From Introduction: "The Glens Falls NTMS Quadrangle of New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire (Fig. 1) was evaluated to identify and delineate areas and geologic units that have characteristics favorable for uranium deposits. All geologic environments in the quadrangle were studied by surface methods and, where possible, were inferred to a depth of 1500 m."

Aeroradioactivity Survey and Areal Geology of Parts of East-Central New York and West-Central New England (ARMS-I)

Description: Report concerning "[a]n airborne gamma-radiation survey of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and parts of New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont" (p. 5) made between 1958 and 1960 that indicated that a broad range of radioactivity exists in those areas depending on the type of bedrock. Correlations are drawn between this radioactivity and the geology of the region.
