Tectonic Map of Western Nebraska and Northwestern Kansas Showing the Distribution of Uranium Occurrences

Description: From introduction: The Cordilleran Foreland (King. 1951, p. 58-62; Horberg and others, 1949, p. 192194) forms a broad north-south belt, parallel to and east of the Cordilleran geanticline (fig. 1), in which the predominant geologic structure is a series of anticlinal mountains and broad asymmetric basins that contrast sharply with the folds and overthrusts related to the Cordilleran geanticline. A tectonic map of most of the Cordilleran Foreland (fig. 2) is being compiled as an aid to study the… more

Annual Report of Monitoring at Barnes, Kansas, in 2010

Description: The Commodity Credit Corporation of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (CCC/USDA) operated a grain storage facility at Barnes, Kansas, in 1949-1974. Carbon tetrachloride contamination was initially detected in 1986 in the town's public water supply wells. In 2006-2007, the CCC/USDA conducted a comprehensive targeted investigation at and near its former property in Barnes to characterize this contamination. Those results were reported previously (Argonne 2008a). The results of that investigation… more

Final Work Plan: Indoor Air and Ambient Air Sampling Near the Former CCC/USDA Grain Storage Facility in Everest, Kansas.

Description: The Commodity Credit Corporation of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (CCC/USDA) operated a grain storage facility at the western edge of Everest, Kansas, from the early 1950s to the early 1970s. Sampling by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) in 1997 resulted in the detection of carbon tetrachloride in one domestic well (the Nigh well) northwest of the former facility. On behalf of the CCC/USDA, Argonne National Laboratory subsequently conducted a series of investigations t… more
