Preliminary Report of Reconnaissance for Uraniferous Granitic Rocks in Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and California

Description: From abstract: A reconnaissance to determine the uranium content of granitic rocks in the western states was made during parts of October and November 1951. The paucity of our knowledge of the granitic rocks that are most likely to contain significant quantities of uranium has prevented all but a very general isolation of areas or types of granitic rocks for reconnaissance examination.

Geology and Uranium Favorability of the Sonora Pass Region, Alpine and Tuolumne Counties, California

Description: From project objectives: The Sonora Pass region was identified by the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) as a potential uranium resource area because of past uranium production at the Juniper Mine and reported high-grade occurrences in other buried fluvial channels which are Tertiary in age. The objective of the Sonora Pass drilling project was to obtain subsurface data that would increase the accuracy of uranium reserve estimates for the project area.

Development of Bypassed Oil Reserves Using Behind Casing Resistivity Measurements

Description: Tubing and rods of the S.P. Pedro-Nepple No.1 well were pulled and the well was prepared for running of Schlumberger's Cased Hole Formation Resistivity Tool (CHFR) in selected intervals. The CHFR tool was successfully run and data was captured. The CHFR formation resistivity readings were compared to original open hole resistivity measurements. Separation between the original and CHFR resistivity curves indicate both swept and un-swept sand intervals. Both watered out sand intervals and those w… more

Ground-Water Storage in the Johnson Valley Area, San Bernardino County, California

Description: Abstract: The Mojave Water Agency includes several desert basins where ground water in storage is many times as great as the average annual recharge. The Johnson Valley area was evaluated to find (1) the quantity of ground water in storage, (2) the chemical quality of the ground water, and (3) the potential for storage of recharge water in the unsaturated zone. Johnson Valley contains about 250,000 acre-feet of water in storage, of which about half can be considered recoverable. About 250,000 a… more
