Description: The field-ionization mass spectral hydrocarbon data from F-45 (Wyodak coal-derived SRC) and F-51 (Kentucky 9/14 coal-derived SRC) were recalculated so the various hydrocarbon fractions could be compared directly on a weight percent basis. Determination of Maximum Permissible Irradiation of Type 3 (SM-2) Fuel Plates

Description: Two methods were used for predicting the maximum permissible burnup in type 3 (SM-2) fuel plates: use of analytical models and use of existing irradiation data on UO/sub 2/ stainless steel dispersion fuel plates. Results with two analytical models indicated that burnups above 100% U/35 are permissible. Comparison of the expected burnup with available irradiation data indicates that successful performance of type 3 replacement cores in SM-1, SM-1A, and PM-2A can be expected. (auth)

Control of pyrite surface chemistry in physical coal cleaning

Description: To better understand the flotation behavior of coal pyrite, studies have been initiated to characterize the floatability of coal pyrite and mineral pyrite. The hydrophobicity of coal material pyrite was examined over a range of pH and oxidation times. The results indicate that surface oxidation plays an important role in coal and mineral pyrite hydrophobicity. Periodic Radiation Survey of Reactor Plant Container and Components After Shutdown "F" Survey. Core I, Seed 1. Test Results (T-612076). Section 4

Description: An investigation was conducted to obtain measurements of radiation levels inside the hemispherical heads of the 1-B heat exchanger. The radiation levels were measured at the handholes on two occasions with an interval of 640 hrs between them. A very large increase was noted and could be explained only by the possibility that the measurement survey points were not identical. (J.R.D.)

Large-scale low-speed wind-tunnel tests of a model having a 60 degree delta horizontal canard control surface and wing to obtain static-longitudinal-stability and canard surface hinge-moment data

Description: Report presenting a wind-tunnel investigation of a model equipped with a 60 degree delta wing and a 60 degree delta horizontal all-movable canard control surface to determine the stability, control, and canard-surface hinge-moment characteristics at low speeds and at a Reynolds number of 9 x 10(exp 6). Two longitudinal positions of the canard surface were tested. Results regarding lift and pitching moment, drag, and hinge moment are provided.
