An Evaluation of the Effectiveness of the Undergraduate Music Education Curriculum at North Texas State University

Description: Graduates who responded to the survey indicated that the undergraduate music education curriculum between 1967 and 1972 was generally adequate in preparing students to teach music in the public schools. Areas such as administration, supervision, student teaching, and professional education were deemed weaker than other areas by both the vocal and instrumental graduates. In comparing vocal and instrumental graduates' responses in certain areas of the questionnaire it was found that in most cases… more

The Effects of Implosive Therapy on Fear of Interpersonal Interaction and Counseling Effectiveness

Description: The problem of this study was the reduction of a hypothesized fear of intimate interpersonal interaction among counselor trainees. This study had three purposes: 1. To determine whether implosive therapy is effective in reducing conditioned fear of close interpersonal interaction. 2. To determine whether the use of implosive therapy is effective in enhancing the counseling effectiveness of counselor trainees. 3. To provide information that may be beneficial for future research involving the use… more

Collision Broadening of Microwave Spectral Lines of Monomeric Formaldehyde and Formic Acid

Description: Line width parameters for a number of spectral lines in the pure rotational spectrum of formaldehyde (CH20) and formic acid (HCOOH) have been measured using a sourcemodulated microwave spectrograph. All transitions studied in this investigation were of the type ΔJ=O (i.e. Q-branch transitions), with ΔK-1=0 and ΔK+1 =+l. The center frequencies of the measured lines varied from 8662.0 MHz to 48612.70 MHz. The experimentally determined collision diameters for self broadening interactions involving… more

Synthesis and characterization of metal--metal bonded dimers of tantalum and tungsten

Description: A search for innovative synthetic routes to new metal-metal bonded metal-halide clusters resulted in isolation of two completely independent dimeric species. The syntheses and characterizations of Ta/sub 2/X/sub 6/(SC/sub 4/H/sub 8/)/sub 3/ (X = Cl, Br) and ((n-C/sub 3/H/sub 7/)/sub 4/N)/sub 2/(W/sub 2/Br/sub 9/) followed entirely different experimental routes, yet occasionally similar properties linked the two projects. Large Graphite Drawings on Gessoed Surfaces

Description: The problem for the project emerged threefold: (1) to further explore the uses of the graphite medium including the possible integration of wet media color on large surfaces, (2) to use the human figure as subject matter, and (3) to explore gessoed drawing surfaces of masonite and paper.

A Study Combining Stoneware and Found Objects

Description: The intention of this study is to examine the relationship between fired clay and certain found objects. Working from the assumption that clay, being a natural substance, shares a common ground with certain other natural substances, such as wood, hemp, rock, etc., a primary aspect of the investigation consists of discovering successful combinations of these materials. In each design two subordinate problems were encountered. These were (1) determining the best means of combining and preserving … more

Molecular beam kinetics

Description: The design of a crossed molecular beam ''supermachine'' for neutral-- neutral collisions is discussed. The universal electron bombardment ionizer, mass filter, and ion detection system of the detector, the supersonic nozzle sources, the differential pumping arrangement for the sources and detector, the time-of-flight detection of scattered products, and the overall configuration of the apparatus are described. The elastic scattering of two systems, CH$sub 4$ + Ar and NH$sub 3$ + Ar, has been me… more

Effects of the EPI-C Model upon Self-Actualization of Clients in Group Counseling

Description: The problem with which this investigation is concerned is that of the evaluation of the effectiveness of the EPI-C model as a guide to group counseling. The purposes of the study are (1) to determine whether group counseling employing the EPI-C model results in positive gain in self-actualization, and (Z) whether group counseling using the EPI-C model is more effective than a topical discussion group or no treatment at all in producing greater positive change in subject self-actualization. A Study of the Interaction of Co-Insult Treatments with Methylmercuric Chloride and X-Irradiation and Demonstration of a Peroxide Induced Protective Mechanism

Description: The initial purpose of this work was to investigate the interaction of methylmercuric chloride (MMC) and X-irradiation given as a co-insult upon the rat blood-brain barrier (BBB). The indicators used to determine BBB alterations were mortality and the in vivo tissue uptake of radioactive sulfate administered as 3 5S-sodium sulfate. The results of the interaction studies indicated a neutralization of effects when MMC and X-irradiation were given together. X-irradiation as a single insult general… more
