Description: The body of work originating from this Problem in Lieu of Thesis consists of paintings on canvas that incorporate representations of plant material. The impetus for the paintings was black and white photocopies created from mounds of plant material placed on a copy machine. The resulting copies contained forms that were organic in appearance, but unrecognizable as known objects. Description: Most of my childhood was spent in either the expansive suburbs of north Texas or on a farm in southern Oklahoma. The experience of growing up in these two regions has done much to shape my sense of aesthetic. From these early experiences, I have developed two completely divergent ideas of beauty which I've tried to reconcile in my artwork. A Comparative Investigation of the Application of Photographic Images to Glass by Screen-Process Enamel Ink, Screen-Process Glass Etching, and Transfer-Key

Description: The problem with which this comparative investigation is concerned is the application of a photographically derived image to glass. The image used originated from an ordinary thirty-five-millimeter color slide. This slide, through photographic darkroom manipulation, was translated into thirty individually different, black and white films of four-by-five-inch size. Acrylic Paints with Alkyd Polyester Laminations as a Painting Technique

Description: The reason for this paper is to present a study of the compatibility of alkyd polyesters and acrylic paints in a painting technique incorporating plastic laminations. A number of tests ware conducted in order to discover the basic handling and visual characteristics of polyester in combination with acrylic paints. After the initial experiments, or "test plates," the information derived was applied to a series of demonstration paintings.

Enigmatic Realms

Description: The use of copper in my work has opened up an entirely new conceptual and esthetic world. I have expanded my vocabulary of visual imagery based on the nature of how copper reacts with fire. The organic beauty harmonizes so gracefully with the manufactured material. This new material has certainly opened up a refreshing platform on which to further develop my ideas.
