Human Alpha 1-Acid Glycoprotein: a Study of Genetic Variation

Description: Human Alpha 1-acid Glycoprotein (AAG) was analyzed quantitavely and qualityatively for differences which could be associated with oncogenesis. Levels of seru, AAG were elevated in most mlignancies, particularly in malignant melanomas, malignant myelomas, and in solid tumors of the lung, kidney, colon, or other organs.

The Purification and Characterization of Glyoxalase I from DBA/1J Mouse Liver

Description: It was the purpose of this study to purify glyoxalase I and then characterize its physical and kinetic properties. A comparison of the enzyme from the liver of normal and tumor-bearing mice and from the tumor itself was also to be made.

Effects of a Methylcholanthrene-Induced Lymphosarcoma on the Blood of DBA/1J and Swiss White Mice

Description: The investigation was concerned with characterizing effects of this tumor line on lipid metabolism in DBA/1J mice and serum protein levels and cellular changes in DBA/1J and Swiss white mice. Total lipids, lipid phosphorus, neutral lipids, and changes in fatty acids were determined in liver, spleen, skin and tumor of DBA/1J mice bearing the lymphosarcoma at various days after injection of tumor cells.

The effects of coronary α₁-adrenergic stimulation on coronary blood flow and left ventricular function

Description: This study examines the α-adrenergic constrictor tone varies with intensity of exercise, the effects of coronary α1-adrenergic blockade on left ventricular contractile function and regional myocardial perfusion, and compares the effects of increasing coronary blood flow by removing α1-constrictor tone.

Determination of the Complete Nucleotide Sequence of the xylZ Region of the Pseudomonas Putida TOL Plasmid pDK1, Encoding a Subunit of the Toluate Oxidase Complex

Description: A 1.57 kb XhoI restriction fragment derived from the TOL plasmid pDKI was subcloned into the E. Coli plasmid pUC19. The complete nucleotide sequence of this XhoI fragment was determined using both the chemical cleavage and chain termination DNA sequencing methods.

Isolation of the xylE-xylL region of Pseudomonas putida plasmid pDKR1 and determination of the complete nucleotide sequence of the xylE gene encoding catechol 2,3-dioxygenase

Description: A 5.1 kbEcoR I fragment from Pseudomonas putida TOL plsmid pDKR1, carrying the xylE and xylL genes, was inserted into pBR 325 and transformed into E. coli. The xylE region, coding for catechol 2,3-dioxygenase, was subjected to Maxam-Gilbert sequencing reactions.

Investigation of the Developmental Profile of Chromosomal Proteins in Zea Mays

Description: Histone proteins were examined during development in the meiotic elongate and a genetically close line N6HT. Histones were also extracted from an F1 (el x N6Ht). Comparisonc beteen the histone samples from each line of N6HT and elongate, and the F1 for leaf, root, and stem were inconclusive. A tassel sample form elongate exhibited a markedly slower migrating band that was not present in N6HT. The histone profiles of elongate and N6HT also differed.
