Effect of DCPA on Growth, Morphology and Physiology of Foxtail-Millet Seedlings

Description: This investigation is concerned is concerned with how a commercial herbicide, dimethyl 2, 3, 5, 6-tetrachloroterephthalate (DCPA) affects the growth, morphology, and physiology of foxtail millet (Setaria italica (L.) Beav.). The objectives were to examine the nature of morphological changes, to determine what physiological and chemical changes accompanied the morphological alterations and to obtain information about the mechanism by which DCPA is herbicidal.

Description: The lecture recital was given April 23, 1973. A discussion of trends and parallels in Impressionist music and painting included information about specific technical devices and innovations related to and common to the arts of music and painting, as seen in the Miroirs of Ravel. Slides of Impressionist paintings were used as illustrations. The five pieces of the Miroirs were then performed by memory.

A Transcription and Translation of Musica Dalla Parodie d'Alceste by Carlos d'Ordoñez

Description: Parody may be defined as a humorous or sarcastic imitation of a serious piece of literature. It appears, following this interpretation, that Carlos Ordoñez composed his marionette opera, Musica Dalla Parodie d'Alceste as a parody on Gluck's Alceste. A microfilm of the original manuscript of Ordoñez was procured from the National Szecheny Library in Budapest, the possessor of the only copy of the work.

Description: A composition in three movements for piano, the duration of which is approximately seven minutes and thirty seconds. The tonal organization employs quickly changing tonal centers. Linear aspects are of more structural importance than vertical sonorities. Frequent changes of meter, syncopation, and ostinato figurations are utilized in each movement. Description: A set of variations can be any length and contain any number of variations. The same set of variations also can be fashioned to resemble any musical form. Music for Alto Saxophone and Wind Ensemble

Description: The first movement material is presented by the ensemble and subsequently developed by the saxophone. A majority of the saxophone passages are supported by the ensemble with unaccompanied solo passages kept to a minimum. The various sections are based more on differences in pitch and rhythm than orchestration and harmony.

Synergism

Description: Synergism is an art presentation designed to use multimedia concepts to heighten audience involvement in the work. Although primarily sound oriented, its skeletal structure is literary. The music expands upon the text to communicate the inexplicable or irrational element of its meaning to those faculties which determine emotional response. This process is aided by a modicum of environmental control achieved through stage lighting effects.

Studies of Encystment and Germination in Azotobacter Vinelandii

Description: Light and electron microscopy were employed to study the encystment and germination processes in Azotobacter. Data obtained from frozen-etched replicas and chemically fixed cells revealed that as encystment occurs, the cells become rounded, and lose their motility.

Hypnotherapy is recognized as a viable adjunct to counseling, and it is known that hypnosis is possible via audiotapes.
