Linear response at criticality

Description: In this article, the authors study a set of cooperatively interacting units at criticality, and prove with analytical and numerical arguments that they generate the same renewal non-Poisson intermittency as that produced by blinking quantum dots.

Space-charge-based electrostatic plasma confinement involving relaxed plasma species

Description: In this article, a numerical study is reported on the equilibrium properties of a surface-emitted or edge-confined non-drifting plasma. A self-consistent finite-differences evaluation of the electrostatic potential is carried out for a non-neutral plasma that follows a Boltzmann density distribution.

Low-temperature UV photoluminescence of ion beam synthesized Si nanoclusters embedded in Si

Description: This article explores Ultraviolet (UV) photoluminescence (PL) data taken on a double Au implanted Si matrix and studied over a wide temperature range of 28-220K. The results of this study at lower temperatures indicate the emission to be coming from Si nanoclusters (NCs) embedded in the matrix.

Variability-Selected Low-Luminosity Active Galactic Nuclei in the 4 Ms Chandra Deep Field-South

Description: This article demonstrates that the observed variability cannot be explained by X-ray Binary populations or ultraluminous X-ray sources, so the variability is most likely caused by accretion onto a supermassive black hole.
