Description: The iodine species formed either by adding hypochlorite to a basic iodide solution or by adding triiodide to sodium hydroxide, was identified as hypoiodite ion. The absorption spectrum of IO{sup -} was investigated in the wavelength range from 450 m{micro} to 280 m{micro}. The kinetics of the reaction I{sup -} + ClO{sup -} = IO{sup -} + Cl{sup -} was studied spectrophotometrically in alkaline solution. K Reactor graphite distortion data

Description: Recent observations and measurements of the K Reactor stacks have revealed that horizontal shifting of the graphite has occurred. This shifting has caused the stack sides to bow outward as much as three inches. In addition, gaps large enough to admit 3X balls have been observed between blocks in certain regions of the stack. Effects of Modifications to a Control Surface on a 6-Percent-Thick Unswept Wing on the Transonic Control-Surface Flutter Derivatives

Description: Transonic flutter derivatives for unswept wing control surface configurations determined by pressure cell measurements. The control surfaces were mounted on a wing with an aspect ratio of 3, a taper ratio of 0.6, and a wing-thickness ratio of 0.06. Results regarding aerodynamic balance, vortex generators, splitter-plate configurations, and wedges are provided.
