Neurotransmitter receptors in the suprachiasmatic nucleus: circadian and developmental studies

Cultural mistrust, occupational aspirations and achievement motivation of black students

Description: The purpose of this study were three-fold: First, this study examined occupation prestige ratings of African American adolescents using a modified version of the Hatt-North (1947) Occupation Prestige Scale. A second purpose investigated the effects of cultural mistrust on occupation prestige preferences, as well as aspirations and expectations. Finally, this study examined the effects of cultural mistrust and achievement motivation on the occupational aspirations of Black youth.

Planning strategies as predictors of DWI recidivism for problem and non-problem drinkers

Description: This study investigates the relationships between planning strategies on how to avoid future DWI arrest and actual DWI recidivism for a group of problem and non-problem drinkers. A sample of 75 individuals who were arrested for DWI and completed a DWI training program in 1987 was gathered.

Social factors in adolescent suicidal ideation and behavior

Description: The decision by teenagers either to consider or to attempt to commit suicide was addressed in this research. Covariance structure analysis (LISREL) techniques were used to examine the influence of four social-psychological factors (psychic disruption, delinquency, family disruption, and school problems) upon a suicidal orientation.

The Bombay Stock Exchange: tests of market efficiency

Description: This dissertation analyzes the efficiency of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the relationship of stock return patterns on the BSE with those of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The data includes daily closing values of the BSE and S&P 500 Indexes for the period 1979-1990 and bi-weekly closing prices on 27 of the most active stocks on the BSE for the period 1980-1990.

Ethical reasoning and risk propensity: a comparison of hospital and general industry senior executives

Description: This research explores whether differences in ethical reasoning levels exist between senior hospital managers and top level general industry executives. Similar comparisons are made between not-for-profit hospital managers and their peers in for-profit hospitals. Also examined are the ethical reasoning levels used most often by practicing executives, regardless of industry affiliation.

Pyrimidine nucleotide metabolism in Rhizobium meliloti: purification of aspartate transcarbamoylase from a pyrimidine auxotroph

Description: Rhizobium aspartate transcarbamoylase (ATCase; EC 2.1.3.2) was previously believed to be similar to the Pseudomonas ATCase which has been studied extensively. To facilitate the study of the Rhizobium ATCase a pyrimidine-requiring mutant of R. meliloti was isolated and used in the purification of the enzyme.

An analysis of absenteeism cases taken to arbitration: factors used by arbitrators in the decision-making process

Description: The purpose of this study was to examine factors used by arbitrators in deciding the outcome of disciplinary labor arbitration cases involving excessive employee absenteeism. The seven key tests of just cause identified by Carroll Daugherty in the 1966 Enterprise Wire Co. arbitration case were used as the basis for examining the cases in the study.
