The use of the semantic differential in a study of the effects of aspirational and dissociative reference group influence on consumer behavior

Description: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aspirational and dissociative reference group influence on consumer behavior. There are two ways in which behavior is influenced by reference groups. First, reference groups influence aspiration levels and therefore play a major role in producing satisfaction or frustration. Second, reference groups influence kinds of behavior, i.e., they establish approved patterns of behavior.

Herr und Heer: the German Social Democrats and officer corps, a reappraisal

Description: Utilizing the debates of the German Reichstag, the proceedings of the SPD, the memoirs of the leading military and Marxist figures and the principal newspapers of the Second Reich and Weimar Republic, this dissertation attempts to show how the army chiefs and the socialist leaders of Germany altered their policies not only to promote their interests but also to protect the state.

The efficacy of self-administered systematic desensitization

Description: The purpose of this study was to test the therapeutic usefulness of a completely self-administered, behavior-therapy technique: systematic desensitization. The method involved the comparison of behavior change following the treatment of two groups of subjects. One group received the actual systematic-desensitization procedure, while the other underwent a similar but theoretically ineffective treatment termed attention-placebo.

Fear response of rape victims

Description: The present investigation sough to explore the psychological responses of rape victims. Description: The problem with which this dissertation is concerned is to determine whether the semester unit plan offers seventh grade students greater academic gain in the basic subject areas than does the quarter unit plan.
