Description: This report surveys the need for large computers in analyzing the properties of magnetically confined plasmas and simulating the characteristics of fusion reactors. Behavior of ultrasonic tagged chinook salmon and steelhead trout migrating past Hanford thermal discharges (1967)

Description: Ultrasonic tagged, adult chinook salmon and steelhead trout were tracked in the Columbia River in 1967 during upstream migration past cooling water discharges from nuclear reactors. All fish migrated near shorelines, showing preference for the river bank opposite reactors. Clear responses to local temperaature differences were exhibited by few fish, these responses being to small shoreline seepages rather than to main centerchannel outfalls. (auth)

Calculations of the ground state energy and exchange integrals of crystalline $sup 3$He

Description: Thesis. The variational equation is derived and discussed using Jastrowtype wave functions, which are a product of pair wave functions, as the trail wave function. The various approximations used in simplifying the variational equations so as to obtain a form that is possible to solve numerically are discussed also. A Monte Carlo calculation is described using the wave function obtained. Exchange in /sup 3/He is discussed. (MHR)
